Total sales

The Total sales report displays every sale and return generated by your store within a selected time range, sorted by date. This report includes key data commonly used for accounting purposes, such as net sales.

TIP

If an order contains multiple products, each product is listed as a separate sale or return in the report. Shipping fees are also listed separately.

Report data fields

For each sale or return, the financial report displays:

Order IDThe order associated with the sale or return.
Product titleThe product associated with the sale or return.
Gross salesEqual to Product Price × Quantity Ordered. Gross sales exclude discounts, returns, taxes, shipping fees, or other charges.
DiscountsEqual to Product Discount + Proportional Share of Cart-Level Discounts. Discounts include item-specific discounts and the proportional share of cart-wide discounts. Discounts are displayed as negative values on the order date.
Returns amountThe value of items returned by the customer. Returns are displayed as negative values on the date the return was created. Refunded shipping fees and taxes are not included in this column—they appear as negative values in the Shipping fees and Taxes columns.
Net salesEqual to Gross Sales - Discounts - Returns. Net sales exclude shipping fees and taxes. Sales generate a positive net sales value on the order date, while returns generate a negative value on the refund date.
TaxesTaxes associated with the sale or return. Taxes from sales are positive on the order date, and taxes refunded due to returns are negative on the refund date.
Shipping feesShipping fees associated with the sale or return. Fees from sales are positive on the order date, and refunded fees are negative on the refund date. This report does not include data from purchased shipping labels.
Total salesEqual to Gross Sales - Discounts - Return Amount + Taxes + Shipping Fees + Other Charges. Total sales are positive on the order date for sales and negative on the refund date for returns.
