Split and merge shipments

On the Genstore platform, you can process orders more flexibly with split shipments and merged shipments. These features help you improve shipping efficiency and manage orders effectively. This article provides a detailed guide to both functions.

Split shipments

Split shipments apply when a customer places an order with multiple products, but you cannot ship all items at once. If an order contains more than one product, you can split it into multiple shipments.

Steps to split a shipment

  1. Log in to your Genstore merchant admin and navigate to Orders -> Shipping.
  2. Go to the Pending shipments page and find the order you want to split and click to access the order detail page.
  3. The system will prompt you to select the products to be shipped separately and allow you to choose different shipping methods for each package. You can either upload a tracking number manually or purchase an shipping label through Genstore Logistics.
  4. Once the split is completed, each package will have its own tracking information, and you can process shipments separately.

Things to keep in mind

  • Each split package can use a different shipping method, including merchant self-delivery.
  • Split shipments are treated as separate packages, meaning they have independent shipping costs and tracking.

Merged shipments

Merged shipments allow you to combine multiple orders into a single package. If the customer information, sales channel, and shipping address are the same across multiple orders, you can merge them.

Steps to merge shipments

  1. Log in to your Genstore merchant dashboard and navigate to Orders -> Shipping.
  2. On the Pending shipments page, check if there’s a notification about eligible orders for merging.
  3. If multiple orders meet the merge criteria, click Go to merge to access the merge orders page.
  4. Select the orders you want to merge. The system will automatically verify that the customer information, sales channel, and shipping address match.
  5. After reviewing the merge details, click Merge orders. The system will combine them into a single shipment.
  6. Once merged, you can process the shipment as a regular order, select a shipping method, and purchase a shipping label.

Things to keep in mind

  • Orders can only be merged if they have the same product details, customer name, sales channel, package information, and shipping address.
  • Once merged, the combined shipment will have a single shipping method and carrier.
  • If you merge orders by mistake, you can unmerge them and restore them to individual orders.

How to unmerge orders

If you mistakenly merge orders or need to adjust them, you can split them back into separate orders.

Steps to unmerge orders

  1. Go to the Pending shipments page and find the merged order.
  2. Open the order details and look for the Cancel merge option.
  3. Click to unmerge, and the system will restore the orders to their original state.
  4. The unmerged orders will return to the Pending shipments list, where you can assign individual shipping methods.

FAQs

1. How do I know if orders are eligible for merging?

Orders can only be merged if they have the same customer information, sales channel, package information, and shipping address. If any details differ, the system will not allow merging.

2. Can I split and merge the same order?

No. Splitting and merging are separate actions. You can either split an order into multiple shipments or merge multiple orders into one shipment, but not both.

3. Will merging orders affect shipping costs?

Yes. Merging orders results in a single package, which will have one shipping cost. You’ll need to confirm the shipping method and cost after merging.
