Connect a third-party domain
To connect a domain you purchased from a third-party provider (like Google Domains, GoDaddy, IONOS, or Wix), log in to your domain provider account and update the DNS records.
Once you update the DNS records, it may take some time for the changes to take effect. This usually happens within two hours, but it could take up to two days.
Step 1: Log in to your third-party domain provider account
- Log in to your third-party domain provider account.
- Review the requirements from your provider.
- Even with your permission, Genstore support cannot log into your third-party domain account. If you need help pointing your domain to your Genstore store, reach out to your provider’s support team. You might need to provide them with the following details:
- Your A record should point to Genstore’s IPv4 addresses
172.66.1.107
and162.159.141.111
. - Your CNAME record should point to
shops.genmystore.com
- Your A record should point to Genstore’s IPv4 addresses
Your domain can only have one A record and one www
CNAME record. If you already have an A record or www
CNAME record, update them to point to Genstore. You can have multiple CNAME records linked to your domain, but each one must have a unique name, such as www
or shop
.
Step 2: Update the DNS records in your third-party domain account
- Go to the DNS settings or domain management section.
- Update these records:
- Set the A record to point to Genstore’s IPv4 addresses
172.66.1.107
and162.159.141.111
. - If needed, change the Host name to the
@
symbol. - Delete any other A records (if any exist).
- Set the CNAME record for www to point to
shops.genmystore.com
.
- Set the A record to point to Genstore’s IPv4 addresses
- Save your changes.
You don’t need to adjust the TTL value in the DNS settings. Just leave it as the default.
Step 3: Connect your domain to Genstore
- In the Genstore admin, go to Settings -> Domains.
- Click Connect existing domain.
- In the Domain field, enter your domain name (e.g.,
example.com
) and click Next. - Click Connect domain.
It may take up to 48 hours for domain verification to complete. Once verified, your domain will show up under the Domains section on the Domains page with the status Connected.
