Set tax exemption for customers

Setting tax exemption for customers can effectively reduce taxes for specific customer groups, especially for non-profit organizations or other entities that qualify for tax-exempt status.

Steps

  1. Navigate to customer details: In the Genstore merchant admin, go to Customers, click on the target customer, and enter their detail page.
  2. Edit tax exemption settings in the Tax exempt section:
    • Default setting: By default, customers do not receive tax exemptions.
    • All regions tax exempt: If set to exempt in all regions, the customer will be tax-exempt for all orders globally.
    • Specific regions tax exempt: You can set tax exemption for specific countries/regions. Once set, all orders from those regions will be automatically tax-exempt.

TIP

  • Email address association: The tax exemption setting only applies to customers who place orders using their registered email address.
  • Items with tax-inclusive pricing: Even if a customer is tax-exempt, products listed with tax-inclusive pricing will still require the full amount to be paid.
