Manage marketing subscriptions

With email and SMS marketing, you can expand your business and build lasting relationships with your customers. This section will guide you on how to manage customer marketing subscriptions in Genstore.

Email marketing subscription

Email marketing allows merchants to push promotional campaigns to customers' inboxes, boosting engagement and increasing store orders. According to consumer protection laws, in Genstore, only customers who have agreed to receive email marketing can get marketing emails.

How customers subscribe

  • Subscribe at checkout: When customers use their email address during checkout, the system will automatically subscribe them to marketing emails. They can choose to opt-out if they wish.
  • Subscribe through third-party apps: Customers can subscribe to marketing emails through third-party apps installed on your store. For more details, check third-party apps.
  • Merchant-initiated subscription: With the customer’s consent, merchants can opt customers in to email marketing subscriptions when adding or editing customer details.

Subscription statuses

StatusDescription
UnsubscribedDefault status, customers who are unsubscribed will not receive any marketing emails.
SubscribedCustomers have agreed to receive marketing emails and will regularly receive promotional content.
Pending confirmationCustomers need to confirm their subscription through a link in a confirmation email. This status appears when double opt-in is enabled.
Unsubscribed (opt-out)Customers who choose to unsubscribe will no longer receive marketing emails.

Double opt-in switch

To ensure customers clearly consent to receiving marketing emails, you can enable double opt-in:

  1. Go to Genstore -> Settings -> Notifications -> Customer notifications.
  2. In the Customer marketing section, enable the email subscription confirmation switch.

Currently, the system does not support customizing the content of the double opt-in email.

SMS marketing subscription

SMS marketing delivers promotional content to customers' phones, increasing engagement and boosting order volume. Similar to email marketing, only customers who have agreed to receive SMS marketing can get marketing texts.

SMS subscription process and status

The SMS subscription process and status management are similar to email marketing, including customer-initiated subscriptions and double opt-in flows. This strategy ensures that all marketing activities are based on the customer's explicit consent and comply fully with legal regulations.
